What can I expect at my physical exam appointment?
A yearly physical exam is different from a routine follow up, sick visit, pap smear or pelvic exam. A physical exam has a specific diagnosis and procedure code that tells your insurance company that you had a physical.
If something is discussed or brought to the physician’s attention that is outside the realm of the physical examination, it may be necessary to bill your insurance a separate diagnosis and procedure code, which would also require a payment of your copay. Your doctor may feel that you need a separate appointment to go over in detail any issues you want to discuss outside the realm of the physical exam. That way your physician will be able to spend the necessary time needed to ensure your physical exam is complete.
How much time is needed to get an insurance referral for an upcoming appointment?
We require a minimum of 48 hours to process all insurance referral requests.
