Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
The intensive outpatient program (IOP) at Lower Keys Medical Center is designed to achieve stabilization and resolve mental health and/or co-occurring substance abuse issues. The program is an intensive, short-term and highly structured treatment program designed to maximize gains and prevent relapse or hospital admission.
The patient and family are offered services by a team of professionals. The intensive group therapy is offered 3 hours per day, 3 days per week. The patient's treatment plans are designed specifically for his or her needs and the appropriate amount of group therapy is determined. The patient is enrolled with others working on similar issues. The treatment team may include licensed therapists, nurses, program specialists and a psychiatrist.
Patients receive individualized, goal-oriented psychotherapeutic and educational treatment to support their recovery efforts from mental illness, addiction or both. The program utilizes a disease and recovery model for psychiatric and addiction disorders. Patients utilize the programs to transition back into the community after inpatient treatment or instead of hospitalization.
Most major insurances cover the IOP and the program also accepts private payment.
