Mason Promoted to CEO of Grandview Medical Center

BIRMINGHAM, AL (Sept. 20, 2017) — Drew Mason has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer of Grandview Medical Center effective today, September 20, 2017. Mason succeeds Keith Granger who was recently promoted to the position of CHSPSC, LLC Regional President and Market CEO of Alabama.
Mason was named Chief Operating Officer of the medical center in 2015, having first come to Birmingham as Assistant Chief Executive Officer of Trinity Medical Center in 2014. He has been responsible for operations management, market development initiatives, service line expansion and Grandview Medical Group’s network development. Mason also played a key leadership role in the relocation of Trinity Medical Center to Grandview Medical Center on Highway 280.
“Drew has demonstrated expertise in clinical operations, strategic planning and market development, financial management, and physician relations during his tenure as COO at Grandview,” said James Spann, Chairman of the Grandview Medical Center Board of Trustees. “We admire his work ethic, talent, and natural leadership characteristics. Drew will provide leadership continuity which we believe is crucial to the future success of Grandview.”
Since the hospital’s opening in the fall of 2015, Mason has been instrumental in Grandview’s growth. Under his leadership the medical center has added more than 1,000 new employees and 300-plus new physicians. Grandview has also experienced unprecedented growth in admissions, surgeries, and ER visits, providing medical care and services to tens of thousands of patients each year.

Mason has worked and been active in many facets of the healthcare industry for more than a decade. He previously served in administrative roles at Chestnut Hill Health System in Philadelphia, PA, and Gadsden Regional Medical Center in Alabama.

I have seen first-hand his leadership capabilities and his dedication,” said Keith Granger, Regional President & Market CEO for Alabama. “Drew has been heavily invested and engaged in all of the activities taking place at Grandview and will bring continuity to the ongoing initiatives and future plans.”
Recently, Mason was appointed by the Governor of Alabama to serve on the Statewide Health Coordinating Council (three-year term). He is currently a member of the Alabama Hospital Association Birmingham Regional Council and a member of the board of directors for the American Heart Association – Metro Birmingham, AL chapter.

Mason received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Villanova University in Villanova, PA. He received his master’s degree in business administration with specialization in healthcare from Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.
