Move Day from Trinity Medical Center to Grandview Medical Center
10/6/2015
The long awaited opening of Grandview Medical Center will take place on Saturday, October 10 at 6 a.m. As the hospital opens, patients from Trinity Medical Center will begin the move to Grandview. The move process is expected to take approximately 10-12 hours.
“This move is not about the clock. It is totally focused on the safety and well-being of our patients,” said Keith Granger, President and CEO of Grandview Medical Center. “We have been planning and preparing for this relocation for more than a year now. We are planning and working alongside numerous public safety agencies that are assisting us in making this a smooth transition.”
Every Trinity patient will be transported to Grandview by ambulance and accompanied by a Trinity nurse with critical care experience. Ambulances will travel in groups of four to 10. No road closings are anticipated. Police will be monitoring and controlling intersections throughout the day.
“This move, which involves many public safety agencies, was structured with the safety of the patients and the public in mind,” said Jim Coker, Director of the Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency. “The Jefferson County EMA, which is serving as the coordination agency for the move, will activate its Emergency Operations Center at 4:30 am, and will act as a communications and documentation hub. The JCEMA will take lessons learned from the move and distribute this knowledge to other agencies; communities will benefit in the future from the Trinity to Grandview planning process.”
