Family Garden
The Family Garden at Willow Creek Women’s Hospital was envisioned, funded and built by the Jackson L. Graves Foundation, working with the community and hospital staff. The Family Garden is meant to provide an aesthetically pleasing garden courtyard where one may find fresh air, live vegetation and quiet for those going through the pregnancy and childbirth process.
The first two phases have been completed adding four sitting areas, a flower picking garden for children, and an opportunity to have pavers engraved to honor loved ones. There is also a memorial sculpture and fountain. The final phase will include a prayer labyrinth. The beautiful Family Garden:
- Provides a dedicated space for reflection and peace for families who have an infant with a long-term stay or mother on bedrest.
- Increases the opportunities for staff to find a place for reprieve while caring for critical patients.
- Serves as a spiritual space for the patrons and staff.
- Creates a space to provide a family-centered care program involving graduate parents, local churches as partners and special events.
In addition to the Jackson L. Graves Foundation, thanks are extended to the many other sponsors and contractors for making this space a reality: EB Landworks, Multi-Craft Contractors, Burman Construction, ABC Block, Concrete Services, All Around Landscaping, The Potty House, Criterion Energy, Little Guys Movers, Hogbox, Brother's Pumping and many, many special friends and donors.
The Jackson L. Graves Foundation, established by James and Angie Graves in memory of their son, Jackson Lee Graves, is a charitable organization dedicated to improving care for infants who are the very sickest babies in need of complex medical attention. The mission of the Foundation is to improve the quality of life for neonatal and pediatric patients and families involved in critical care situations. It exists to provide family-centered care in the NICU environment to make trying times as comfortable, complete, hopeful and peaceful as possible. Read more about Jackson here: Jackson L.
