Northwest Health Expands Cardiology Program With Electrophysiology
12/9/2021
Northwest Health now offers cardiac electrophysiology (EP) for patients suffering from arrhythmia (abnormal heartbeat). When someone’s heart doesn’t beat normally, doctors use electrophysiology studies (EPS) to test the electrical activity of your heart to find where an arrhythmia is coming from. These results can help you and your doctor decide the best treatment plan.
Electrophysiology procedures include diagnostic electrophysiology, pacemaker implantation, implantable cardioverter defibrillators, ablation therapy and more. These procedures are all performed in the brand new full-service electrophysiology lab at Northwest Medical Center – Springdale.
“With this capability, we can provide immediate and critical cardiac care for rhythm disorders so our patients can return to a healthy and active life,” said Clint Weigel, BSN, RN, RCIS, director of cardiac services at Northwest Health.
Along with electrophysiology, Northwest Health offers an array of heart and vascular services including diagnostics, emergency care, medical and interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery and cardiac rehabilitation.
Northwest Medical Center–Springdale and Northwest Medical Center–Bentonville are accredited by The American College of Cardiology as Cycle VI Chest Pain Centers with PCI, as well as being accredited as Advanced Primary Stroke Centers by The Joint Commission. Siloam Springs Regional Hospital has also earned chest pain center and acute stroke ready hospital accreditations.
