CEO Janice Dabney To Retire After 51 Years
6/28/2017
LANCASTER, SC, June 27, 2017 – Chief Executive Officer Janice Dabney has announced her decision to retire from Springs Memorial Hospital this summer. Dabney has served as CEO of the hospital since December 2012 after holding numerous administrative and executive positions since first coming to work in 1966.
“Janice has played an important part in creating the setting that supports physicians, nurses and other caregivers in providing care to thousands of patients in our community each year,” said Tracy Little, Chair of the hospital’s board of trustees. “Because of Janice’s passion and expertise, our hospital is well-positioned for the future. Her transition to another phase of life is much deserved, but we will certainly miss having her as a daily part of our hospital.”
Dabney is an active participant in the Lancaster community, representing SMH with the Lancaster County School Board in which she currently serves as the Secretary, Lancaster Rotary Club and with the South Carolina Hospital Association. She is a past chair of Lancaster County United Way and the Listening Center, and past board member of Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce, University of South Carolina Lancaster –Educational Foundation, The Red Cross and Partners for Youth. Dabney was the first female of Lancaster Rotary Club.
The search to identify a new CEO to lead Springs Memorial Hospital will begin immediately. Members of the board of trustees, medical staff and administration will participate in the work to identify the right individual to fill this important role.
