Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy assists patients in achieving their maximum level of independence with the activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and cooking. Occupational Therapists work in a variety of settings such as hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, home care, outpatient clinics and schools. These use strengthening programs, pain reduction techniques, balance training, adaptions to the home, or adaptive equipment to help patients reach their goals of independence.
Patients who have had strokes, injuries, orthopedic surgeries, or any disabling condition may benefit from the services of an Occupational Therapist. They work closely with other members of the rehabilitation team such as physical therapists and speech therapists to establish a plan of care that will meet the patient’s goals for return to an independent lifestyle.
