Geriatric Care Unit
The Geriatric Care Unit at Grandview Medical Center is a 13-bed, secure inpatient psychiatric facility for the treatment of senior adults experiencing acute behavioral health treatment needs. Since we are located at a fully functioning medical facility, patients also have access to consultation by other medical specialists for non-psychiatric medical needs.
The Geriatric Care Unit at Grandview Medical Center provides care with a treatment team focus. The treatment team consists of the attending psychiatrists, staff nurses, technicians, professional therapists and counselors, and other consultants deemed necessary by the treatment team. All these professionals have training in the care of senior adults and their unique needs. They work together to provide an environment where the patient and their family can best work on specific treatment goals.
The inpatient treatment team works closely with outpatient behavioral health services, local mental health centers, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospice providers and other treatment resources to ensure that patients have access to community-based care after they leave the hospital.
