Specialized Care
To further our commitment to caring for your heart, the new cardiac center at Grandview Medical Center is equipped to handle patients with even the most unique heart conditions.
7-Cardiac is a specialized, 50-bed unit dedicated to treating patients who are suffering from heart-related conditions such as a heart attack, congestive heart failure (CHF) or heart rhythm abnormalities. The unit also provides care for patients recovering from heart procedures such as stent placement, cardiac catheterization and pacemaker or internal heart defibrillator implantation, as well as those patients with a significant history of heart disease.
Patients admitted to this special step-down unit will have their heart rhythm continuously monitored via telemetry transmission, 24 hours a day. Specially trained monitor technicians keep a constant check on a patient’s heart watching for potentially dangerous heart rhythms.
7-Cardiac is designed to treat heart patients at each step of recovery- from admissions and pre-operative care all the way through rehabilitation and discharge. Throughout your stay, a team of highly-trained nurses will provide you with education about your specific diagnosis, including how family can help care for you post-discharge.
Cardiac Intensive Care Unit
For heart patients who require extra care, we also offer a 24-bed cardiovascular intensive care unit. The cardio ICU teams provide around-the-clock care for patients recovering from open heart, lung and vascular surgeries or acute care illnesses, including acute myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, unstable angina and cardiac dysrhythmias.
The cardiac intensive care team includes registered nurses who have completed extensive training, have achieved advanced certifications, and are certified in basic and advanced cardiac life support.
