About our Program
Grandview’s Center for Advanced Joint Care is certified by the Joint Commission for Hip and Knee Replacement. Several of the surgeons offer the anterior approach for hip replacement. Many registered nurses are certified in orthopedics through the Orthopaedic Nurses Certification Board, which strives to advance the care of the orthopedic patient and promotes excellence in specialty nursing practice by encouraging professional development and clinical practice.
In addition to surgery, we offer each patient a personalized treatment plan, including pre-operative education and accelerated rehabilitation programs. To prepare you for being discharged, we offer Discharge Education Classes. These classes are held at 8 a.m. Tuesday through Friday in the group dining room.
Clinical Practice Guidelines
Grandview Medical Center’s total joint program is built upon clinical practice guidelines that provide recommendations related to:
- Attendance of a pre-surgery total joint education class
- Physical therapy beginning the day of surgery
- Reducing the risk of infection after surgery
- Reducing the risk of blood clots after surgery
- Pain control after surgery
For questions regarding total joint replacement or for more information regarding our Total Hip/Knee Clinical Practice Guidelines, please call the orthopedic clinical excellence coordinator at (205) 971-1866.
