Breast Care at Willow Creek
Request a Mammography Appointment
If you're 40 years of age or older, getting your mammogram is the single most important thing you can do to stay ahead of breast cancer. Northwest Breast Imaging Center at Willow Creek offers breast tomosynthesis, also called 3D mammography, to detect breast cancer. This technology has been shown in clinical studies to be superior to digital mammography.
Breast tomosynthesis uses high-powered computing to convert digital breast images into very thin layers or “slices,” producing a 3D mammogram. The exam, similar to a traditional mammogram, begins with a breast tomosynthesis technologist positioning and compressing the breast under a paddle to take images from different angles.
The X-ray arm sweeps in a slight arc over the breast, taking multiple breast images in seconds. A computer produces a 3D image of the patient’s breast tissue in one-millimeter layers. This allows radiologists to examine fine details in the breast tissue one layer at a time, giving them the ability to see breast tissue in detail.

Not all insurance providers cover 3D mammograms. Appointments are on a first-come, first-served basis. An order from a physician or qualified healthcare provider is not required, but the patient must provide a physician/provider name when an appointment is made. If the patient does not have a physician/provider, a list will be provided for the patient’s selection. All mammogram reports will be sent to the physician/provider and follow-ups are the responsibility of the patient.
